Letters chiefly concerning preparation for the Beaverbrook Art Gallery opening including purchase of furnishings and lighting. Other projects discussed are arrangements for the purchase of bells for St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church; reproduction of various paintings from the gallery's collections by Hans and Peter Markgraf; borrowing paintings from the National Gallery; progress of work on The Square and other Newcastle projects; applicants for the teacher's scholarships; fund accounting for the Beaverbrook Foundations; the appointment of Mrs. Howard J. Pillow to the Beaverbrook Art Gallery Board of Governors; addition of a first aid room to the Saint John rink and reprinting an article from Canadian Art written by Stewart Trueman about the gallery. There is also included a typescript of an original letter from James R. Hartley, date "2nd May 1864" concerning appointments to the University of New Brunswick Senate.
